Engagements

We started off Alexis + Zack’s engagement session at the Historic Oak View County Park just a little different than most. I knew I wanted to photograph their fancier outfit in front of the house and this beautiful little garden, but there were a lot of people roaming the park including 3 other photographers and the sun was still a little too high in the sky, so we started with their casual clothes first! This really worked out though because it was sticky hot out when we began the session and by the time they changed into their more formal attire the air had cooled down some.

These two sweethearts have been together for 7 years after meeting through mutual friends in high school. They’ve really grown together through high school and now Alexis works on an ambulance for EMS and Zack works as a service technician at a Chevy dealership. They love to travel to new places and explore all things. Zack was originally planning on proposing to Alexis during a trip to Charleston but the COVID-19 shutdown had them cancelling their trip. Zack managed to convince Alexis to drive down to Charleston for the day they booked a photographer for a photo session and surprised her with a ring during it!

After their session we all headed out to El Tapatio Restaurante for dinner and some delicious margaritas… okay I got the sangria but it was delicious! The conversation never lulled and it was so refreshing to be going back out to dinner with a couple after their engagement session. We stopped going out to restaurants once the pandemic hit in full force and now that we’re fully vaccinated we’ve been dipping our toes back into public. These two were the perfect couple to start back our post-engagement session tradition with eating delicious Mexican food and learning so much more about them!

I hope you enjoy a few of our favorite photos from Alexis + Zack’s engagement session at the Historic Oak View County Park right outside of downtown Raleigh!

Okay, we had been to the Historic Oak View County Park for one engagement session before but somehow missed this amazing little secret garden behind the house! Okay, so it’s not really secret from the public by any means but I had absolutely no idea it existed. I’m so glad we found this cozy, lush garden because it had the most beautiful afternoon light peeking through the leaves and some amazing texture that helped create so much depth!
