Engagements

We met up with Hannah and Andrew for their super cold engagement session at West Point on the Eno! We all came bundled up and chased every sun beam we possibly could just to try and stay warm. They brought all of the inner warmth with their adorable smiles and contagious laughter – there was never a dull moment!

These two sweethearts met online nearly 4 years ago and have been inseparable ever since… in spirit at least! They explored downtown New Bern and sat on a park bench just chatting for hours after their original ice skating plans were derailed by a long dinner. Even though Andrew was going to be in Missouri studying to be a veterinarian, they decided to pursue a relationship because it just felt right – like they had known each other for years. They spent 2.5 years apart until Andrew was able to move his courses online due to the pandemic. He move back to NC to be with Hannah while she was finishing up her schooling to be a nurse.

Before in-person classes started again, Andrew surprised Hannah with a proposal on the same park bench as their first date. He even had a photographer in the bushes playing their favorite Stevie Wonder song. He even asked “Marry me will you be?” in true Michael Scott fashion and she enthusiastically responded with “Your wife becoming me will I.” But wait, it gets even cuter… After the proposal, Andrew convinced Hannah to drop by and see her parents at their clubhouse to tell them the good news. They were immediately greeted by the happiest “Congratulations!” and a celebratory family barbecue with both of their families! Everyone had been quarantining for 2 weeks just so they could safely celebrate during the pandemic. I just can’t with this cuteness!!

I knew we were a perfect fit right from the start! First because they happily told us about their story before we could even ask… and their obviously they’re super nerds like we are! But also because they were super enthusiastic about our inclusivity. They have several wedding guests who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community and it’s super important their guests feel welcome and safe. Being located in “The South” I often hear stories of people being refused services because of who they love, so hearing a couple say inclusivity is at the forefront of their minds really resonated with me!!

We headed to Torero’s in downtown Durham after their engagement session at West Point on the Eno for some chips + salsa and of course delicious margaritas! We chatted about everything at dinner and to say we’re STOKED for their wedding day would be a huge understatement!
